The Butchers Arms

Country Pub

Food

PROBABLY THE

BEST KEPT SECRET

IN HEREFORD

Drinks, food & good times in the heart of the Hereford countryside

Hi, I’m Helen the proprietor and chef here at the Butchers Arms.  If I’m not the one greeting you at the door, chances are I’m in the kitchen cooking up something delicious for you.

In 2020, I made the move from the Forest of Dean, where I spent years developing and running a number of wonderful pubs.  That experience, and the loyal following I built there, followed me here with some customers still making the 40-mile journey to visit!

I set up shop at the Butchers Arms to create something special;  a place where locals feel at home, regulars become friends, and visitors are welcomed like family. Thanks to the brilliant staff (I couldn’t do this without them) we offer not just proper pub grub, but great service, a cozy ambience.  Add in some top-notch beer and you’ve got the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

We’re proud to have a strong local customer base, and we’re always excited to welcome new faces. Whether you’ve come for the food, the atmosphere, or the company, you’re in good hands.

OUR MENU

At the heart of everything we serve is a simple belief: great food doesn’t need to be fancy - just fresh, hearty, and made with care. We focus on classic pub dishes with a homemade touch, using quality ingredients and seasonal produce wherever possible. Whether it’s a proper pie, a sizzling roast, every plate is crafted to be satisfying, honest, and full of flavour - just the way good pub grub should be.

Top notch pub food. Big portions, sunday lunch comes with bowls of vegetables on the side. Fish and chips- the fish was as big as the plate!! Did not disappoint and we did not go home hungry. Lots of covered seating areas outside, well spaced out seating inside considering it is a very old little pub. The landlord and her staff are all very helpful. Definitely my go too pub.

Brilliant staff. Just really friendly service by everyone, especially the lady I assume was the proprietor.

We went for Sunday Roast and it was as impressive as the other reviews make it sound! Huge portions, lots of veg, tasty gravy and the pork itself was SO tender. Excellent value.

Pretty good coffee too. We will definitely return!

We stopped to chance that their may be a table available and we were warmly welcomed. Plenty of outside table space with cute pods. Great variety on the menu and our meals were delicious. So pleased we can be back out dining out.

Always had a great meal here, and it’s just a beautiful old style pub. Somehow, we always seem to get placed by the fire which is great to have a warm by. Lovey Sunday roast on this occasion.

Must be one of the best pubs I have ever been to. The atmosphere is genuine and welcoming, the building is beautiful and historical. The service can't be faulted. The food is fresh, with generous portions, amazing taste, and value. I recommend it to everyone who gets a chance to visit!
